The Los Angeles County Department of Public Works is proposing to construct a relief drain system in the City of Redondo Beach. The project will be aligned within road right of way along Aviation Way, Carnegie Lane, Huntington Lane, Green Lane, Marshallfield Lane, Blossom Lane, Flagler Lane, Morgan Lane, and Rindge Lane and would outlet into an underground detention basin located at Fulton Parkette. The project would be constructed in the vicinity of your neighborhood.

The purpose of the project is to provide increased flood protection and alleviate existing flooding problems.

The proposed project involves construction of a relief drain system consisting of approximately 7,300 linear feet of reinforced concrete pipe varying in size from 24 inches to 96 inches in diameter, 110 linear feet of reinforced concrete box conduit 8.5 feet high by 10 feet wide, and various appurtenant structures including manholes and catch basins. The project also includes the construction of a 4.5 acre‑foot capacity underground detention basin with a 15 foot wide access ramp. Approximately 0.5 acres of right of way, would be required from the City of Redondo Beach. The proposed storm drain will be connected to the existing Project Nos. 6502 and 9804.

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Works has prepared a Negative Declaration to assess the proposed project impacts to the environment and the community. No significant impacts were identified. The Negative Declaration is being circulated for a 30‑day public review period. The review period will end December 17, 1999.
